At CETAF 44, the CETAF European Initiatives Advisory Group presented the latest developments regarding the new framework programme Horizon Europe. Within this programme lies a new opportunity to further establish the position of CETAF and its members as scientific institutions who conduct cutting edge, socially relevant research: the so-called missions. For this new instrument, proposals can be submitted that might later get taken up.

The fourth iteration of the SYNTHESYS projects started on February 1st 2019, this time with CETAF as a partner.
One key component of the projects was the provision of transnational access to natural history collections. This has not changed with the new project, SYNTHESYS+. Along with the start of the project the first call for physical access was launched as well on 1 February 2019.

The 44th Meeting of the CETAF Governing Board, hosted perfectly by the Plant Science and Biodiversity Centre, Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava took place on the 14th and 15th of November 2018.
At the meeting, taxonomy and research themes took centre stage, as the main focal point of several discussion threads. This was highlighted by a special, dedicated workshop on the "CETAF vision for taxonomy and systematics research in 2030”.
