DISCCO PRESENTED AT ESFRI LAUNCH CEREMONY IN VIENNA
On Tuesday 11 September DiSSCO was officially introduced as a priority Research Infrastructure on the 2018 European roadmap during the ESFRI Launch Ceremony at the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna. This is a huge achievement for European natural science Collections as the ESFRI Roadmap identifies new Research Infrastructures (RI) of pan-European interest corresponding to the long term needs of the European research communities.
DiSSCo represents collaboration between European natural history institutions with 115 partners from 21 countries joining forces to transform European natural science collections into a new distributed scientific infrastructure.
Ana Casino (CETAF) and Leif Schulman (Finnish Museum of Natural History - LUOMUS) attended as representatives of ICEDIG, the design study project for DiSSCo. DiSSCo coordinator Dimitris Koureas presented the DiSSCo project and its importance for the European research landscape (see picture).
