CETAF45 GOVERNING BOARD MEETING IN TARTU
The CETAF45 Governing Board Meeting hosted by the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden will take place on May 15th & 16th 2019.
CETAF Chair Michelle J. Price and Executive Director Ana Casino and are inviting CETAF representatives of Europe's largest collections-based natural history institutions and other invited guests to join the meeting. The meeting will see the election of a new CETAF Executive Committee and will end with an open discussion session a global scientific and strategic vision for CETAF.
Together they will discuss the latest achievements and new developments for natural science collections and taxonomic expertise.
Prior to the Governing Board meeting, the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden, CETAF and GBIF host a symposium on “Persistent Identifiers in the biodiversity data life cycle”. It will explore the theoretical challenges and practical examples of using Persistent Identifiers (PID) during the life cycle of biodiversity data. Are PIDs necessary for FAIR data and what data in biodiversity needs PIDs? Practical solutions of PIDs for the specimen and DNA based taxon occurrence data will be demonstrated.
