Transnational Access Grants to Member Institutions
A number of CETAF members, or national consortia in which CETAF members play leading roles, have, since 1998, received support through the European Commission’s Framework Programmes to enhance transnational access to their collections, equipment and expertise.

CETAF Initiatives
SYNTHESYS: Synthesis of Systematic Resources.
A CETAF Integrated Infrastructure Initiative (EU 6th Framework Programme). 2004 - 2009.
Aims: 1) To provide transnational access grants to 20 CETAF natural history museums and botanical gardens, and 2) to carry out Networking Activities focused on creating a single "virtual" museum service.
EDIT: Towards the European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy.
A CETAF Network of Excellence in Taxonomy (EU 6th Framework Programme). 2006-2011.
Aims: To integrate taxonomic effort within the European Research Area and to build a world leading capacity. The project will create a European virtual centre of excellence (EDIT), which will increase both the scientific basis and capacity for biodiversity conservation.

ENBI: European Network for Biodiversity Information
Aims: to make biodiversity data accessible through an integrated shared information infrastructure
ENHSIN
: European Natural History Specimen Information Network
Aims: to enable the development of a shared, interoperable infrastructure of natural history specimen databases in European institutions
BioCASE: A Biological Collection Access Service for Europe
Aims: to establish a web-based information service providing users with unified access to biological collections in Europe
FAUNA EUROPAEA
Aims: to assemble a database of the scientific names and distribution of all living multicellular European land and fresh-water animals
Euro+Med PlantBase
The Euro+Med PlantBase provides an on-line database and information system for the vascular plants of Europe and the Mediterranean region.
